ABOUT MEVLANA

Mevlana, full name Mevlânâ Jalāl al-Dīn Muḥammad Rūmī, was born on September 30, 1207, in the city of Balkh, which is now located within the borders of present-day Afghanistan. He passed away on December 17, 1273, in Konya, Turkey. Mevlana is a prominent thinker, poet, and mystic known for his teachings.

One of Mevlana's most significant works is the "Masnavi" or "Mathnawi," a long epic poem. The Masnavi is a poetic expression of Rumi's teachings, covering various themes such as love, wisdom, humanity, love for God, and the inner journey of the individual. Mevlana's works have been widely respected not only in the Islamic world but also globally, with translations into many languages.

Mevlana's teachings are epitomized by the "Whirling Dervishes" and the Sufi order known as the Mevlevi Order. These followers established the order after Mevlana's death, and it is characterized by spiritual discipline and the sema, a circular dance ritual.

Mevlana's philosophical legacy is celebrated on the anniversary of his death, known as the "Wedding Night" or "Şeb-i Arus." Following his passing, Mevlana's disciples and admirers founded the Mevlevi Order, a Sufi order that follows his teachings.Mevlana's teachings emphasize universal values such as love, tolerance, human unity, and deep devotion to God. His poetry and teachings have earned respect not only in the Islamic world but also worldwide. Mevlana's thoughts continue to inspire those seeking inner transformation and spiritual awakening. His influence persists to this day, and his works are still appreciated by a wide audience.
